Losing weight often feels daunting because we believe it requires a detailed, specific plan. Sometimes, just the thought of creating this plan makes us give up and move on. On the other hand, gaining weight seems effortless, requiring no plan—unless it’s an intentional goal, which is a challenge for some and worthy of its own discussion.
The notion that we gain weight without a plan is a fallacy. Subconsciously, we make choices that lead to weight gain. Each time we avoid making the right decisions, cling to old habits and beliefs about our bodies, and repeat unhelpful behaviors, we are following an unwritten plan to gain weight.
If you want to lose weight, don’t start by drafting a new plan. Begin by recognizing the existing subconscious plan that has brought you to where you are. Understand the deep-rooted values and beliefs related to your body image, stress, failure, and health that shape your habits. By bringing this plan to light, you can identify what needs to be reshaped and create a more intentional path toward your weight loss goals.
With love and gratitude,
