TraiTrain like a #trainer, or maybe I should say, live like a #personal trainer. How many times, you wished to hire a personal trainer and thought you can’t afford one, or you felt you are not ready enough to be train by a #personal trainer?
You see, becoming a personal trainer happened to me “accidently”.
Back in the days (like 20 years ago) I #fellinlove with #spinning, I become obsessed with it, went 7 days a week, sometimes did double #classes, I was working at a restaurant as #shift manager and was a #student for #fashiondesign, yes, fashion design, I was 20 years old or so, but spinning stole my #heart so badly that I figured I must become a spinning instructor.
But, in those days, if you wanted to teach spinning, you had to be certified as wellness coach / fitness trainer, or aerobic, step and body condition instructor.
Which I was NONE, but, that it didn’t stop me from quitting fashion design school a month before graduating, YES, a month before finishing, to go and get certificate as wellness coach.
I must say, that if there were times that I could believe in #magic, those where the days, and here is why.
The course to become a wellness coach was a one year program, once a week with tones of homework, however, as I was looking for courses, the leading school in Israel for health and fitness programs, “Wingate institute” was doing a test of intense course spread over 6 days a week for 6 weeks.
You got it, I didn’t think twice, signed up, and somehow I made it work with my restaurant shifts and did it.
Before I finished this course I was already on a #hunt for spinning instructor certificate course.
Luckily I found one that was schedule for a day or 2 after I finish the intense course, so I signed up for it, and I was thrilled, I was in heaven, this is about to happen and I couldn’t be happier, ONLY, another push back confronted me, I broke my toe, yes, I broke my toe 2 weeks before the spinning course, I was on crutches and the
Dr told me: “8 weeks recovery:
I was like: “are you kidding me, in 2 weeks I am on a spinning bike to become an #instructor, there is NO WAY I am waiting 8 weeks”.
He was like; “sorry Ilan, not going to happen”.
So, for the coming days, I went to the gym everyday with crutches, lifting weights, doing anything I could do with that minor limitation.
In my head, I couldn’t see any other option but going on the bike, after 10 days or so, I went on the elliptical; I gave up on the crutches, and spend an hour on that machine.
Same the day after, and the day before the course, my spinning instructor saw me in the gym and she asked me to come in for a class, I told, her: “not sure I can do it with my broken toe”, and she told me, “I have almost empty class, let’s have fun”, so I went in and how happy I am I did, not only I rode the class, I was able to take the course as I scheduled, got my certificate and within less than a week I got my first “gig” as a spinning instructor.
