How Yoga Can Help Us Now?

 The practice of yoga, when looked from all 8 limbs of yoga (pic below), teaches us the ways to understand the functioning of the consciousness and helps us to quite the waves of our thoughts.

And what will be a better practice during these days than the practice of yoga.

I am hoping to simplify this post to help us all remember, we can control what we think and how we respond to those waves of thinking.

This pic is from my course “The Essene Of Yoga”.

As you can see, before we practice the asanas (the physical), the practitioner is presented first with 2 limbs;

So here is how the practice of yoga can help us handle better these days. Looking at the universal moral, we can practice more kindness during this stressful times, especially towards our loved ones, we can be more truthful with each other, we can avoid stilling each-other’s freedom, allowing others to just be, try our best not to manage each other, not to dictate one another, that by itself can improve our self control.

Looking at personal responsibility, we can and we must practice to keep our mind, body and our self speech pure and clean, avoid complaining, especially internally, keep your thoughts elevating and keep your body light and limber.

Move, breath and sleep well. Accept this situation as it is, less dwelling on the unknown and act more to improve the known. Discipline yourself to maintain activity and “normality” as possible, rise up early, eat healthy food, and move regularly. Find time to study the way you think, this will help you to improve your ability to control the way you think and that will influence the way you feel which will lead to the way and what you eat and how you behave. I call this:

The circle of healthy living, think right, feel good, eat well.

This is how the practice of yoga is a great tool to start your journey, it is not only about the physical part, it is a concept that teaches us how to live better.

With Health, Love & Gratitude Ilan Halfon. Namaste.

No Pain No Gain

  We all heard the term: “No Pain No Gain”, I use it quite often with myself, sometimes even with my trainees. However, I am not sure people actually understand the meaning of it. We tend to confuse between pain of stupidity to pain of wisdom, between the physical pain of hard work to the pain of a fracture or a nerve. The pain of a fracture might be to signal us that we are on the wrong path. A pain of a nerve could try to say that maybe we are pushing too much, a pain of stupidity could be when you think you should jump higher than you ever practice for or before, or when you just go for a marathon run when you never run for 10 km in a row. All those versions of pain could not be and should not be part of that statement. Believe me when I say, that it is more painful to push through mentally when a thing seems statics then physically when you can feel the wrong pain. It is easier to say to yourself “if I don’t feel the physical pain I probably don’t push hard enough”, then to kee...

A Path to True Wellness and Balance

 In the pursuit of a healthy life, we strive for balance, aim to maintain our health, and seek happiness within ourselves and our daily lives. While achieving this may seem straightforward, many of us face regular challenges in doing so. We often hide behind our screens, offering advice and sharing personal stories in an attempt to guide others. Yet, when we delve deeper, we find that issues such as obesity, depression, lack of joy, stress, and anxiety persist. So, what’s the key? I believe that self-reflection—practiced often, even daily—can lead us toward our desired goals. The first step is to define your destination: what does wellness truly mean to you? According to the Google Dictionary: Well: in a good or satisfactory way. Ness: denoting a state or condition. However, defining wellness alone isn’t enough to help you reach your aspirations. It requires your personal experiences, objectives, and passions to truly shape it. Begin by asking yourself: What does "well" me...
